Registered Specialist in Emergency Medicine. Honorary Adjunct Professor, Division of Emergency Medicine, University of the Witwatersrand. Honorary Life President, Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa. Past President, College of Emergency Medicine of South Africa.

Professor Kloeck co-founded the Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa in 1988 and served as Chairman for over 20 years. He is a co-founder of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR), the Emergency Medicine Society of South Africa, and the Inaugural President of the College of Emergency Medicine of South Africa.

Having co-authored 80 international peer-reviewed publications and over 3,750 citations relating to resuscitation and emergency cardiovascular care, Walter is the first person in the southern hemisphere to have achieved both Honorary Life Membership and Fellowship of the European Resuscitation Council.

In November 2011, he was awarded International Fellowship of the American Heart Association (FAHA) in recognition of his contribution to resuscitation both nationally and internationally.

With 20 years clinical experience as an Advanced Life Support Paramedic, Darren joined the Academy in August 2022 after holding the position of National Training Manager (Emergency Medicine) for the Life Healthcare Hospital Group.

Darren has a keen interest in teaching Emergency Care and Resuscitation skills to all levels of professional and lay rescuers and has been doing so since 1997. He is the Chapter Coordinator for International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) in South Africa.

Having worked both in-hospital and pre-hospital in the public and private sectors, Darren is able to match training requirements of students to meet their individual needs. He serves as National Faculty for BLS, ACLS, ACLS-EP, and PALS in South Africa for the Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa.

Our Philosophy

Educational Perspectives

Advanced Life Support Courses follow the scientific evidence-based guidelines of the American Heart Association (AHA), the American Academy of Paediatrics (AAP) and the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR). Lead Instructors are internationally qualified and world leaders in emergency cardiovascular care.

Comprehensive textbooks and educational memory aids are supplied to all participants upon enrolment. Internationally-recognised Certificates are awarded upon successful completion.

Courses have been accredited by the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) for Continuing Professional Development (CEU Points), as well as being entry requirements for several College of Medicine post-graduate examinations.
